NYU Wins UAA Women's Golf Championship

The New York University women's golf team picked up where it left off in the fall by winning its first tournament of the spring, the UAA Championship, at the Hammock Beach Golf Club in Palm Coast, FL, on Monday-Tuesday, March 12-13.

This is the third year in a row that NYU, ranked #1 in the nation by Golfstat, has won the UAA title.

The Violets shot 303 on the day to finish with a final score of 618. They beat #11-ranked Carnegie Mellon University (632) by 14 strokes and #4-ranked Washington University in St. Louis (660) by 42 strokes.

Alyssa Poentis shot 74 to finish in first place individually with a two-day total of 153. Patty Treevichaphan (78-76) tied for second with a 154 and Jenni Bluetling (80-76) came in fourth after shooting 156.

"I was proud of everyone's performance," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "Navika Kuchakulla was able to bounce back with a 75 after struggling yesterday and Jessica Wu was the UAA Freshman of the Year."

MORE HIGHLIGHTS:

- Wu and Arisa Kimura both shot 78 for two-day totals of 157. The duo finished tied for fifth place.

- Kuchakulla shot 75 and tied for seventh place with a cumulative score of 158.
