The No. 7-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team is in 13th place after round two at the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championships Wednesday evening at the El Campeon Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort & Club.
The Bears improved in round two by one stroke with a score of 332. No. 2 Claremont Mudd Scripps leads the field with a 628 (311, 317) and has a 37-stroke lead on WashU.
"Golf is an incredibly hard game to consistently compete through 18 holes," said head coach Ellen Port. "Each player has areas to improve on which we look forward to working towards cracking the top-10 tomorrow."
Sophomore Samantha Haubenstock shot up the leaderboard during round two and is tied for 11th place individually. She fired a four-over 77 which included three birdies and 12 pars. Haubenstock is tied for fifth in both pars and birdies after two rounds of play.
Senior Erin Drolet improved on her round one score by 11 strokes to fire an 82 with two birdies. On the back nine, she finished one stroke over par as she combined a birdie with six pars. Drolet is currently tied for 85th place individually.
Freshman Gigi Garcia was third in the Bears lineup, posting an 85 with nine pars, while junior Chloe DiPetrillo (88) and sophomore Emily Carnes (91) rounded out the Bears lineup.
