From Washington University Athletics

The Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team concluded day one of the Pat Clouse Invitational with the lead, firing a 313 on Saturday at the Springfield Country Club.

Tournament host Wittenberg finished a single stroke behind WashU as DePauw (320), Denison (330) and Ohio Dominican (335) rounded out the top-five scores in the 12 team tournament.

Freshman Gigi Garcia led the Bears and tied for the individual lead with an even par 72, which included five birdies. Sophomore Emily Carnes and senior Erin Drolet also posted top-10 marks for the Bears. Carnes finished day one with a seven-over par 79 while Drolet posted an eight-over par 80.

"Garcia fired an outstanding round on a tough track during windy conditions," said head coach Ellen Port. "This course tests every aspect of the game as well as your patience. We're going to have to dig deep to come out on top tomorrow and keep the ball below the hole on these challenging Donald Ross designed greens."

The final score to qualify for the Bears lineup came from junior Chloe DiPetrillo, as she posted an 82.
