Bears Finish Third at the UAA Championship

The No. 4-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team wrapped up the opening tournament of the spring season finishing in third place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship at the Hammock Beach Resort-Conservatory Course.

The Bears concluded the two-day championship with a score of 660 (334, 326) as No. 1-ranked New York University fired a 618 (315, 303) and No. 11-ranked Carnegie Mellon finished with a 632 (329, 303).

Sophomore Samantha Haubenstock finished Tuesday's round with a three-over par 75 in route to totaling 158 strokes (83, 75) to tie for seventh place. She also tied for the tournament lead in pars with 25, while sophomore Emily Carnes finished with a team-leading three birdies.

Carnes placed 15th overall with a score of 166 (83, 83), while senior Erin Drolet and freshman Gigi Garcia tied for 16th with 169 strokes on matching round one and two scores of 85 and 84. Rounding out the Bears lineup was junior Hanna Jia, 170 (83, 87).

Haubenstock finished with the best scoring average on par-4's, as she was two shots over par while averaging 4.10 strokes. Garcia was just a single stroke over par on par-3's, averaging 3.13 per par-3.
