Samantha Haubenstock Captures Medalist Honor as Bears Begin 2017

Sophomore Samantha Haubenstock seized the medalist honors for the Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team but the Bears fell collectively by two strokes to William Woods University on Saturday evening at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

WashU completed the course with a score of 303 while William Woods clipped the Bears with a 301 score. Haubenstock meanwhile tied a personal-best with a three-under par score of 69. Her score also led the field by five strokes as Megan Cullen and Fumika Matsumoto of William Woods tied for second place with two-over 74s.

Three Bears fired in the 70s including junior Chloe DiPetrillo (5th – 76), junior Hanna Jia (6th – 77) and senior Erin Drolet (Tied 7th – 78) to earn All-Tournament honors alongside Haubenstock. Jia's score did not count towards the team score as freshman Gigi Garcia (9th - 80) and Emily Carnes (82) rounded out the Bears' lineup.
