Bears Move Up Golfweek Division III Leaderboard

The No. 1-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team moved up two spots to sixth after round two of the Golfweek D3 Invite Monday afternoon at the Baytowne Golf Club.

The Bears fired a second round score of 316 which was a five stroke improvement on day one and propelled WashU up from a tied for eighth spot to sixth overall with one round remaining. Ahead of the Red & Green's two day total of 637 (321, 316) are No. 6-ranked Rhodes College 617 (317, 300), No. 16 Carnegie Mellon University 629 (319, 310), No. 10 Berry College 630 (311, 319), No. 21 Birmingham Southern College 633 (318, 315) and No. 12 Methodist University 636 (313, 323).

Freshman Alyssa Kim led the charge for WashU during round two with a two-over par 74, getting off to a hot start with two birdies in the first four holes on the front-nine. She tallied two additional birdies on the final three holes of the back-nine. Kim's two day total of 159 (85, 74) is tied for 23rd overall.

Also firing in the 70s on day two was junior Samantha Haubenstock. She finished five-over par 77. In total Haubenstock recorded 13 pars to go along with five bogies. She is tied for third, totaling 151 (74, 77) strokes after two rounds of play.

Senior Chloe DiPetrillo finished strong with five pars and a birdie on the back nine, shooting a nine-over par 81. She is tied for 40th overall with a 163 (82, 81). Freshman Julia Dai rounded out the Bears lineup with a 12-over par 84. She is tied for 44th in the field of 93 golfers. Dai has a 164 score (80, 84) after the opening two rounds.
