Tartans Finish Second at NCAA Fall Preview

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team placed second at the 13-team 2019 NCAA Division III Preview held at held at the par-72, 5,839-yard PGA National Palmer Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The 54-hole event is being hosted by Emory University, as the Cardinal and Gray carded a 312 Sunday afternoon to finish with a 937 (318-307-312). Fellow University Athletic Association (UAA) foe, Washington University in St. Louis won the event with a 926 (318-300-308).

Freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) tied for fourth individually in a field of 70 golfers, as she led the Tartans with a 229 after carding rounds of 77, 73 and 79. Junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) ended play on Sunday with a three-over par 75 for a 54-hole score of 232 (81-76-75). Her score placed seventh individually.

Sophomore Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) ended the 54-hole preview with a 236 (78-77-81). Sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) fired a 244 (86-81-77) and senior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) finished with a 255 (82-89-84).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the event, as sophomore May Wang (Portland, Ore./Westview) shot a 247 (80-83-84).
