Brandon Jones of NYU Earns NCAA Bid After Winning 141-Pound Title at East Regional

From NYU Athletics

Brandon Jones will represent NYU at the National Championships after winning the 141-pound division at the NCAA Division III East Region Championships at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

NYU finished with a total of 58.5 points, while Wilkes University (ranked #8 nationally) took home the team championship with 106.5 points.

The #2-ranked Jones will make the trip to NCAA's for the second straight season, travelling to his home state of Iowa and competing on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15, in Cedar Rapids. Last season, the junior co-captain placed fifth at Nationals at 133 pounds and earned All-America honors.

Fellow junior co-captains Matt DiGiovanni (157) and Patrick Sheehan (184) were NYU's next best finishers, each placing fifth, which was just two spots outside NCAA qualifying position. Sheehan qualified for Nationals, along with Jones, last season.

The top three finishers in each weight class qualified for the NCAA Championships.
