University of Chicago wrestlers Nick Ferraro and Elliot Henderson both competed at day one of Northwestern University's Midlands Championships on Monday.

The 52nd annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships features many of the top wrestlers in NCAA Division I, II and III. Ferraro and Henderson, both freshmen, represented the Maroons in the loaded field and combined to wrestle in five matches on the day.

In the 174-pound weight class, Ferraro opened up against Dylan Iczkowski from University of Wisconsin. Ferraro came away with a 6-3 victory and advanced to face No. 1-seed Mike Evans (University of Iowa). Evans picked up a first-period pin at 1:36 into the match. In the consolation bracket, Ferraro was eliminated by Austin Coburn (Old Dominion University) via pin at the 2:46 mark.

Henderson joined the 133-pound field and matched up with No. 1-seed A.J. Schopp of Edinboro University. Schopp won with a second-period fall at 3:58. In his consolation match, Henderson was defeated 11-0 by Angelo Amenta from Columbia University.
