From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
Sophomore Nick Lees (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and freshman Connor Gordon (Adams, Tenn./Rossview) were each 2-1 as the Case Western Reserve University wrestling team competed on day one of the 2014 Budd Whitehill National Duals at Lamade Gymnasium.
The Spartans (4-5) lost to No. 28 nationally ranked United States Coast Guard Academy (3-1), host Lycoming College (9-2) and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (4-7).
At 174, Lees earned a 10-9 decision against the Coast Guard's Dan Fiorvanti as well as a 7-6 decision versus Lycoming's Brandon Conrad. Lees is now 10-8 for the season.
Gordon, competing at 157, defeated Coast Guard's Steve Kidwell via a 9-5 decision then got past Lycoming's Ross Orler by a count of 9-7.
