From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago wrestling squad received both team and individual academic accolades from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) on Wednesday.

The Maroons earned NWCA Division III Scholar Team status, which is awarded to the top-30 team GPAs in the country based on the wrestlers who were entries for NCAA Regional action. UChicago ranked seventh with a GPA of 3.49.

In addition, four wrestlers garnered Scholar All-American honors – freshman Nick Ferraro, senior Mario Palmisano, sophomore Paul Papoutsis and freshman Devan Richter. A total of 160 wrestlers were selected. The minimum GPA requirement for Scholar All-Americans is a 3.20 cumulative or average of the past two semesters.
