Spartans End Season at NCAA Regionals

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team's 2015-16 season came to an end on Saturday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Mideast Region Championships, hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

While the Spartans failed to advance in any of the championship brackets on Saturday, four CWRU wrestlers picked up wins in the consolation draws.  In the 165-pound bracket, sophomore Nick Tommas earned a victory by pin at the 5:57 mark over Washington and Jefferson's Jesse Lesko, earning three points towards the team total.

At 174 pounds, senior Nick Lees bested Elizabethtown's Quinn Ruble by decision 7-2.  Freshman Gavin Dersh-Fisher also earned a win by decision, 3-0, over Scranton's Derek Fisher in the consolation round of 197-pound draw.

Freshman Brian McNamara rounded out the list of winners for the Spartans with a 3-2 win over Wilkes' Jacob Huling in the heavyweight draw.

The Spartans ended the first day of competition in 17th place in the team standings with 5.5 points.
