The New York University wrestling team won all but one of its bouts in a 38-6 victory over Hunter College on Friday, December 4, at the Hunter Sportsplex in Manhattan.
NYU won nine of its 10 bouts in improving to 4-1 this season.
"Last year we came up short against Hunter and this was something we were looking forward to today," said Senior Assistant Coach Corey Luce.
Ian Burke (17-2) and Anthony Calvano (16-0) each recorded technical falls, competing at 149 pounds and 141 pounds, respectively.
NYU All-American Nathan Pike (133 pounds) grinded out a 6-2 decision over Hunter's NCAA Qualifier Jayden Rice.
"I knew my opponent was good having been an NCAA Qualifier," Pike said. "I knew it was going to be a tough match. He is a kind of funky wrestler which is what I am, as well. I just knew I had to out-work him and be on the defensive."
Raymond Jazikoff (157 pounds) posted a 14-4 major decision win for NYU.
"We went out there and we were aggressive. Our offense was on point and we continued to put pressure on these guys," Luce explained.
