Two University of Chicago wrestlers took part in the prestigious 53rd annual Midlands Championships on Tuesday. Nick Ferraro and Paul Papoutsis represented the Maroons in a field filled with elite NCAA Division I competition from all across the country.

At 165 pounds, Ferraro's first opponent was No. 2-seed Austin Wilson (University of Nebraska). Wilson came away the winner 16-3. The sophomore then faced off in the consolation bracket against Isaac Bast (Kent State), with Bast emerging with the 6-2 win.

Papoutsis also saw a seeded opponent in his opener at 174 pounds, as No. 13-seed Brooks Climmons (Old Dominion University) defeated Papoutsis 14-5. The junior wrapped up the day with an 8-0 loss to Devin Skatzka (University of Indiana).
