CWRU Tested at Findlay Open

Select members of the Case Western Reserve University wrestling team competed at the Findlay Open on Saturday in the Koehler Fitness Center on the University of Findlay campus.

With the majority of the field at the open consisting of NCAA Division I and II wrestlers, the Spartans did not have a wrestler place throughout the tournament.

Sophomore Gavin Dersh-Fisher headlined the Spartans performances by finishing the open with a record of 3-2 in the 197 weight class. He won by fall (6:15) over Lake Erie College's Floyd Rogers, won a 6-1 decision against Lake Erie's Chris Droege and won by fall (1:46) over Thomas More College's John Butler.

In addition, four CWRU wrestlers finished the day with records of 2-2.

Junior Connor Gordon won by an 11-4 decision against Ohio Northern's Jacob Thompson and won by a 13-7 decision against John Carroll's Christian DeDi.

Freshman Alec Hoover won by fall (1:04) over Thomas More's Alex Holt and won in a tie breaker -1 (6-5) over Wheeling Jesuit's Jaylen Hill.

Freshman Isaac Collier won in a sudden victory -1 (7-5) over Lake Erie's Josh Pappas and won by a 6-5 decision against Ohio Valley's Sam Phillips.

Freshman Michael Petersen won by fall (3:12) over Ashland University's Max Kuchenrither and won by an 11-5 decision against Thomas More's Ryley Regan.
