CWRU Continues Beat the Streets Movement

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Last night marked the culmination of the Case Western Reserve University wrestling fall outreach program, Beat the Streets – Cleveland.

The fall clinic series was comprised of six wrestling clinics running from September 13th through October 18th, all taking place in the CWRU wrestling room.

Throughout the fall, the members of the CWRU wrestling program took on coaching roles to instruct participants on techniques of wrestling values of self-discipline and hard work. The program shared its perspectives beyond the wrestling mat as well, which included academics, health and wellness and social.

Beat the Streets Cleveland's mission is to promote wrestling in Northeast Ohio to young men and women and to offer advances in wrestling, health education, and academic opportunities to all. The Beat the Streets movement began in New York and is now a force across the country. Other cities that have joined the movement are Philadelphia, Baltimore, Los Angeles and Cleveland.

"Thrilled that we were able to host the sixth and final session of our Beat the Streets - Cleveland Fall Clinic series last night," said Head Coach Danny Song. "We were able to execute BTS-CLE's mission by providing young men and women opportunities and mentorship via the medium of wrestling. There is no doubt that all who participated and volunteered grew by learning and sharing perspective."
