From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Case Western Reserve University senior goalkeeper Abbey Smith (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) has been selected to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Associaton of America Division III All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. The all-region honor is the first of Smith's career.

In her second season with the team, Smith (8-7-3) registered eight shutouts, 76 saves and a 0.74 goals against average. The eight shutouts tied for the fourth-most in program single-season history.

In two seasons after transferring from the University of Miami (Fla.), Smith was 16-16-5 with 13 shutouts and 137 saves. She ranks third all-time in CWRU history in wins, third in shutouts and sixth in saves.

Additionally, Smith was named to the All-Univeristy Athletic Association First Team in each of her two seasons, and she helped the Spartans to a No. 21 national ranking this past October.

Smith is currently in the midst of her first season with the CWRU women's basketball team.
