For the second-straight week, MaTia Huges of the New York University women's volleyball team was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Region Libero of the Week. The award was announced on Wednesday, October 8.

The sophomore from Atlanta, GA, helped the Violets earn their first University Athletic Association (UAA) victory of the season over Brandeis University. Hughes had a team-high 15 digs in the straight-set win.

In the Violets' two losses over the weekend, Hughes had 19 digs against the University of Chicago and 16 digs against #4 Washington University-St. Louis, bringing her weekend total to 50 digs in three matches.

This is the third ECAC award of the season for Hughes, who currently leads the Violets in digs (369).
