Washington University in St. Louis senior goalkeeper Lizzy Crist was selected to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division III Women's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Crist is just the seventh individual in WashU women's soccer history to earn Academic All-America honors, joining Brenda Harpole (2003), Christine Vavra (2003), Charlotte Felber (2004), Meghan Marie Fowler-Finn (2006), Amanda Boe (2008) and Kate Doyle (2012, 2013).
Crist is the second student-athlete to earn first-team accolades joining Boe. She has a 3.87 grade point average while majoring in biomedical engineering.
Crist, a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA), has a 16-1-1 mark with a conference-best 0.24 goals against average. She also leads the league in goals allowed (4) and save percentage (.905). Crist, who ranks fifth in NCAA Division III in GAA, has recorded a shutout in all four games this season against ranked teams. She has earned UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week honors twice this season.
A three-time Academic all-UAA honoree, Crist was named the 2015 D3soccer.com Goalkeeper of the Year and was also a first-team National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) and D3soccer.com All-America selection. She ranks first in school history in goals against average (0.38) and shutouts (29), second in wins (45) and sixth in saves (167).
"Lizzy Crist epitomizes the scholar-champion environment we strive to attain. She is truly deserving of such a prestigious honor," said WashU head coach Jim Conlon. "To be a student-athlete at WashU is extremely demanding. We expect a lot of our players on the field and in the weight room."
In order to be selected to the Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing.
