Lizzy Crist of Washington University Featured in Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd

From Washington University Athletics

A day after being named the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer National Player of the Year, Washington University in St. Louis senior goalkeeper Lizzy Crist was featured in the December 22nd issue of Sports Illustrated as part of the Faces in the Crowd section.

The issue should be on newsstands and in subscribers' mailboxes.

Crist is the first WashU student-athlete to be featured in Sports Illustrated since women's golfer Connie Zhou on Oct. 23, 2013. MeghanMarie Fowler-Finn, the 2006 D3kicks.com National Player of the Year, is the only other women's soccer student-athlete to be featured in Sports Illustrated on Nov. 20, 2006.

Crist was honored for her performance in helping lead WashU to the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer National Championship. She tied her season-high with six saves in the 5-4 win over Messiah College in the national championship game Dec. 3 in Salem, Va. Crist posted a 19-1-3 overall record and was named the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the second-straight year.

Faces in the Crowd has been published every week in Sports Illustrated since 1956.
