Spartans Edge Wittenberg Via Kimberly Chen’s Late goal

Freshman forward Kimberly Chen scored in 60th minute to give the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team a 2-1 victory against Wittenberg University on Tuesday night at DiSanto Field.

Chen scored off of a put back after senior forward Amy Lindberg laced a shot at the Wittenberg goalkeeper and it deflected to Chen as she put it in the back of the net.

CWRU's first goal came early at the 4:00 mark of the first half when junior midfielder Neha Cheemalavagu took a cross off of a corner kick from junior midfielder Elle Zadina and headed it past the keeper for her second goal of the season.

The Tigers tied the score in the 24th minute of the first half when senior Megan Jones tapped in a shot after it hit the crossbar and beat Spartan junior goalkeeper Sarah Newcomb.

Statistically, the Spartans held a 12-10 advantage in shots, while also leading in corner kicks, 5-1.

In net, junior Sarah Newcomb made six saves and improved to 4-2-2 on the season.
