Scott Waddell Added to NYU Women's Soccer Staff

From NYU Athletics

Scott Waddell has been added as an assistant coach of the New York University women's soccer team. He will primarily be responsible for in-game coaching, scouting and working with the Violets' attackers.

"Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff," said NYU Head Coach Michele Canning. "His primary focus is on attacking, and it provides a good balance for our current coaching dynamic. He is so passionate about soccer. This can easily be seen in his energetic approach to practice and game coaching. I am very excited about the contribution he is going to make to our program."

Waddell comes to NYU after two seasons as an assistant coach at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ. Prior to his time there, Waddell coached four seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Columbia University. He has also accumulated experience with the ENYSSA Olympic Development Program as Head Coach of its U17 team (2012-14) and as Director of the NYC Soccer Academy (2010-14).

A 2007 Columbia graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, Waddell played four seasons as a midfielder/forward with the Lions' soccer team and also served as a captain.

"I am super excited to join NYU's prestigious program," Waddell said. "I hope to help make our attack more exciting and effective as we look to compete on a national level."

Following his collegiate career, Waddell played professionally for Pulau Penang FC (2008) and Real Mona FC (2009).

A member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Waddell is a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and resides in Manhattan.
