Spartans’ Offense Erupts in 4-0 Win at Hiram

Four different Spartans scored on Wednesday night, as the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio.

The Spartans improved to 4-3-0 overall for the campaign, while the Terriers dropped to 2-5-1.

The 4-0 win marked the Spartans largest margin of victory in game since the team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 5-0 on September 9, 2015. The four goals were the most scored by CWRU in a game since the 2015 win over Ohio Wesleyan as well.

Sophomore Kimberly Chen started the scoring with a goal via an assist from sophomore Ana Petropoulos at the 12:38 mark. Petropoulos extended the lead with a goal off an assist from senior Elle Zadina in the 17thminute.

Zadina then increased the Spartan advantage to 3-0 in the 28th minute, after striking a shot past the Hiram goalkeeper during a penalty kick. Freshman Lauren LaPointe capped off the Spartans' scoring with her first collegiate goal in the 38th minute, after an assist from freshman Emily Hauser.

The Spartans outshot Hiram 14-9, while also holding a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Unterborn earned the win in goal, after making five saves to notch her second shutout of the 2017 season.
