TAMPA, Fla. - While in the "Sunshine State" for winter break training, members of the Case Western Reserve University swimming & diving program served the local community with work at Metropolitan Ministries and a Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

"It's always nice to give back to the community," said fourth-year Head Coach Doug Milliken. "This particular project was initiated by our student-athletes, and Emily (Assistant Coach Emily Wylam) organized the locations. We are fortunate to have the opportunities we have as collegiate student-athletes and coaches. We know that it is important to go out and serve others."

At the Habitat for Human ReStore, the Spartans spent the day moving furniture, stocking shelves, and performing other labor-type tasks. The ministries group sorted food and toiletries in addition to working in a thrift store.

"We had a very rewarding experience working to help families get into better homes," said senior captain Sean Nickley (Springfield, Va./West Springfield). "Community service is an important part of our program, and it was great to be able to contribute even though we are so far from our own campus."
