Carnegie Mellon Women Close Out Competition at NCAA Championships

The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday, March 22 with a 39th-place finish after tallying 10 points.

Senior Soleil Phan (Irvine, Calif./Beckman) swam in her last individual event as a Tartan and finished 27th overall in the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 52.58. Sophomore Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) finished 29th overall in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:05.77.

In the last relay event of the meet, the Tartans team of Phan, senior Megan Garvey (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), freshman Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and sophomore Felicia Wang (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) finished 26th in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:35.05.

For the meet, the Tartans earned Honorable Mention All-America in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay, while setting new school records in both relays and the 100-yard breaststroke.
