Kristy Miller Named Assistant Swimming & Diving Coach at CWRU

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Case Western Reserve University Head Coach Doug Milliken has announced the hiring of Kristy Miller as the new assistant coach for the Spartans swimming and diving programs. Miller replaces Emily Wylam, who was named head coach at the University of Rochester (N.Y.) earlier this summer.

"I am very excited to welcome Kristy to the CWRU swimming & diving family," said Milliken.  "After a long search, she separated herself from a great pool of candidates with her professionalism, her desire to work with highly-motivated student-athletes, and her passion for the sport. With her master's degree from CWRU, she already knows the school and the area, which will be a tremendous asset in the recruiting process."

Prior to her hire at Case Western Reserve, Miller held several coaching positions in the Cleveland area, developing swimmers from a variety of age groups. Most recently, she served for three seasons as associate head swim coach at Cleveland Heights High School. In addition, her background includes head coach positions with the Cleveland Heights Sea Serpents and Team Tigershark Swimming Club. In 2013, she earned a master's degree in social administration from CWRU's Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences.

A native of Terre Haute, Indiana, Miller completed her undergraduate studies at Valparaiso University (Ind.) in 2010, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology and political science.  She was a four-year member of the Crusaders varsity swim team and a co-captain as a senior.  Due to her dedication in the pool, she earned the program's Workhorse Award twice during her career. Prior to moving to the Cleveland area for graduate school, Miller coached with Tosa Aquatics in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

"I am thrilled for the opportunity to coach a group of such outstanding student-athletes at CWRU," Miller said. "The swimming & diving programs have enjoyed a lot of success in and out of the pool in recent years, and my goal is to do everything I can to help the team build upon those successes. I'm grateful for the confidence that Doug and other members of the athletic department have placed in me."

Miller is an active member of the American Swim Coaches Association.
