From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team
hosted Denison University in its last home meet of the year on
Saturday, January 24. The Tartans fell by an overall score of
170-104.
Junior Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West)
was the lone Tartan to pickup a win on Saturday afternoon, as she
touched the wall with a time of 59.87 in the 100-yard
backstroke. In the 200-yard backstroke, freshman Emma
Shi (Penfield, N.Y.) and junior Paige Sieffert (Ann
Arbor, Mich. /Saline) finished third and fourth with times of
2:11.36 and 2:11.75.
Sophomore Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) finished
second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.72. Crews
picked up a third –place finish when she touched in 25.48 in
the 50-yard freestyle while freshman Tiana
Marrese (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) touched in 25.56 and
placed fourth.
The Tartans recorded a second and third showing in the 100-yard
breast stroke when freshmanKimberly Hochstedler (Mishawaka,
Ind./Penn) touched in 1:08.44 followed by sophomore Natalie
Kronfli (Potomac, Md./Stone Ridge) in 1:09.88. The
tandem also finished third and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke
with Hochstedler touching the wall in 2:29.25 and Kronfli in
2:35.11, respectively.
Sophomore Kimberly Klausing (North Potomac, Md./Thomas
Wootton) touched third in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:23.57.
