Sophomore diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) joined the diving All-America ranks at Carnegie Mellon University with her finish at the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Kaku reached the consolation finals on the 1-meter board after registering 394.45 points. She then finished 16th overall with 364.15 points in the finals after 11 dives. Her finish earns her All-America Honorable Mention, as she becomes just the fourth diver in Carnegie Mellon history, and first since 2008, to earn the status on the 1-meter board.

Also competing on Friday was sophomore Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and freshman Kimberly Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn). Crews swam in her final individual event, as she finished 27th in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:07.47. Hochstedler had her first experience in an individual event at the national meet, finishing 32nd in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.12.

With one day of competition remaining, Hochstedler will swim the 200-yard breaststroke on Saturday, while junior Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) will swim in the 200-yard backstroke. Singhaus, Hochstedler, Crews and sophomore Allison Kirkby (West Chester, Pa./Conestoga) will also compete in the 400-yard freestyle relay on the last day.
