New York University's women's swimming & diving team
finished in fourth place at the University Athletic Association
(UAA) Championships, which were held Wednesday through Saturday,
February 11-14, at Emory University's Madeline Jude Brown Aquatic
Center in Atlanta, GA.
The Violets finished the eight-team competition with 1,129.5
points. Host Emory won the title with 2,076.5 points.
"We had a fantastic meet, and it's very satisfying to see
the hard work that our team put in over the past six months pay
off," said NYU Head Coach Trevor Miele. "Now that UAA's are
over, our focus shifts to NCAA Championships."
Freshman diver Austin Campitelli won the one-meter
preliminaries (428.65) and finals (425.05) on Saturday after
winning the three-meter preliminaries and finals earlier in the
week. Campitelli was named Women's Diver of the Year and NYU Diving
Coach Scott Donie was named Women's Diving Coach of the
Year.
"Not only was Austin great today, but she was great all meet.
That's what it takes to win against a field like this," said Donie.
"This may have been the first time since I have been at NYU that we
have ever swept every diving event at the UAA's."
