NYU Wins ECAC Championships by 500 Points

New York University's women's swimming & diving team finished in first place (1,883.50 points) of 13 competitors at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, which were held Friday-Sunday, December 5-7, at the Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, NY.

The women's 400-yard medley relay team of senior co-captain, Emily Doerner, sophomore Katie Webber, and freshmen Isabelle Kitze and Serana Yan set a meet record with a time of:,3:51.28.

"We had a tremendously successful weekend and I am very happy with our results," said NYU Head Coach,Trevor Miele. "The team has worked in the pool and in the weight room from day one and it's great to see their efforts pay off."

Miele was named men's and women's Coach of the Meet after the Violets' stand-out performances.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Kitze also won the 50-yard freestyle (24.10) and Yan placed second (24.53).

- Sophomore co-captain Michelle Kierencew finished first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.55).
