Maroons Earn All-American Honors in Two Events at First Day of NCAA Championships

The University of Chicago swimming and diving teams reached the finals in two events on Wednesday and achieved All-American honors in both at day one of the NCAA Division III Championships.

UChicago had four participants in the men's 50-yard freestyle prelims. Junior Thomas Meek made the cut for the evening finals and finished in 15th place in a time of 20.73. That placement led to Honorable Mention All-American status.

The Maroon women also got into a final and competed in the 200-yard medley relay with freshman Melissa Bischoff, senior Jennifer Hill, sophomore Abby Erdmann and sophomore Maya Scheidl. The foursome clinched Honorable Mention All-America accolades by finishing 14th in a time of 1:46.20.
