Yellowjackets Claim Eight Event Wins Against Ithaca

After not swimming in a meet situation for more than five weeks, the women's swimming and diving team put on a strong effort for the University of Rochester in a 151-149 loss to Ithaca College on Monday afternoon.
 
The Yellowjackets (4-3) won eight individual events and both relays. Ithaca (8-1) dominated a couple of events to compile points and squeeze out the win.
 
Lauren Bailey, Jennifer Enos, and Hongjue Wang were double individual winners for Rochester. Bailey swam on a pair of winning relays. Wang swam on one. Alex Veech won an individual event and swam on one winning relay. Vicky Luan won a sprint race and swam on both triumphant relays.
 
Bailey was first in the 200 fly (2:11.96) and the 100 fly (:59.95). She swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay (1:52.21) with Julia Herman, Veech, and Luan.  She had the third leg of the closing 400 free relay as well (3:37.95) with Luan, Emily Simon, and Wang.
 
Enos won both distance races – clocking an 11:04.10 to win the 1000 and a 5:22.91 to win the 500. Wang was first in the 200 free (1:59.68) and the 100 free (:54.80)
 
Veech took winner's honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.96). Luan was first to the wall in the 50 free (:24.32).
 
Herman produced a third-place time in the 100 backstroke (1:04.42). Jillian Johannes was third in the 200 backstroke (2:18.13) and Annie Thayer was third in the 200 IM (2:19.96). Kelsey Lisbon finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.06).
 
Danielle Neu was the runnerup on both boards. She totaled 273.45 on the one meter and 264.37 on the three meter board.
