Joanna Murphy Wins Twice in Brandeis Loss at Colby

From Brandeis University Athletics

Upon returning from their inter-session training trip in Puerto Rico, the Brandeis swimming and diving teams headed North to Waterville, Maine, to take on Colby College on Sunday. The Judges suffered a pair of losses to the Mules, 68-201 on the women's side and 94-200 on the mens.

The Judges had one multiple winner on the afternoon: junior Joanna Murphy (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) in the distance freestyle events. She took the 1000 in 11:16.58, about three-and-a-half seconds ahead of her closest competitor from Colby. In the 500, Murphy swam 5:29.86 to win by a similar margin. She also provided a point in the 200 butterfly and two more as part of the 200-yard free relay.
