Balanced Effort Leads Emory in Tri-Meet with West Florida and Delta St.

The Emory University women’s swimming & diving team came away with a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon, knocking off two highly ranked Division II schools in West Florida and Delta State.

The women registered seven NCAA “B” Cut times led by two from senior Ellie Thompson. Thompson notched NCAA qualifying times in both the 100 Back (57.01) and 200 Back (2:04.36), finishing in second in both races. Also swimming qualifying times were sophomore Cindy Cheng in the 200 Free (1st, 1:52.61), senior Elizabeth Aronoff in the 200 Breast (2nd, 2:22.40) and sophomores Ming Ong (2nd, 4:33.94) and Phoebe Edwards (3rd, 4:34.93) in the 400 IM. The 200 Medley relay team of Cheng, Annelise Kowalsky, Fiona Muir and Marissa Bergh posted a NCAA qualifying time as well, touching at 1:45.77 to place second in the event.

Adding top performances for the Eagles were sophomore Julia Wawer who took first in the 500 Free with a time of 5:05.69 and the 200 Freestyle Relay team comprised of Meg Taylor, Muir, Hannah Baratz and Bergh who won the event at 1:36.66. Sophomore Mara Rosenstock led Emory in both diving events, placing fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 221.25 and fifth in the 1-meter at 203.25.
