Washington University in St. Louis assistant swimming & diving coach Nicole Kaupp has been named the head coach at Luther College.

Kaupp spent the past seven seasons as the assistant coach at WashU after beginning her career at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She has also served as the adviser for WashU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three years.

"I am so thankful for the opportunity over the past seven seasons to be the Assistant Swimming & Diving coach at WashU. It has been an incredible experience to the say the least," said Kaupp. "I have been so lucky to work with bright, dedicated student-athletes who have pushed me every day to be a better coach."

In her seven seasons on the Danforth Campus, Kaupp has helped guide the WashU men's and women's swimming & diving teams to three top-10 national finishes each. This season, the women's team placed seventh and the men were eighth, marking the fifth time in school history that both teams finished in the top-10. It was the second year in a row the Bears accomplished that feat.

Kaupp has helped coach WashU student-athletes to 205 All-America honors, including 53 this season. She has also seen four Bears swim to five National Championships, including seniors Reed Dalton (men's 100 butterfly) and Amanda Stadermann (women's 200 butterfly) this season. Dalton won his second consecutive national title in the 100 fly, while Stadermann became the first women's swimmer in school history to claim an individual national championship.

"I will be forever grateful to Brad Shively who in addition to being one of the best coaches in Division III, has taught and shown me so much about dedication to ones athletes, program and profession. He is an incredible mentor and role model," Kaupp added.

WashU has had three men's and one women's University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year during Kaupp's tenure. The Bears have also excelled in the classroom, including three Academic All-America honorees since 2010. In addition, WashU has had 63 individuals earn Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) since 2010.
