The New York University women's swimming team has completed the third day of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which are being held on Wednedsay-Saturday, March 16-19, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.
No team members actually competed during Friday evening's session. However, the 800-yard freestyle relay squad of Haley Wen, Grace Wakabayashi, Hannah Bergh, and Noel Leung posted an NYU-record time of 7:32.65 during Friday morning's competition and were awaiting the completion of tonight's final heat to discover their ultimate finishing position. Seven teams recorded faster times than the Violets on Friday night, which meant that the Violet swimmers placed 10th overall, which was good enough to secure Honorable Mention All-America accolades for the quartet.
"We had a tremendous performance today by the women's 800 free relay," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "It was awesome to see the squad jump up in the rankings and place so highly."
The Violets are currently in 10th place out of 50 teams and have accumulated 95 points. Leaders and University Athletic Association foes Emory University have 407 points.
