Maroons Break Two School Records, Earn All-America Honors at Day Three of NCAA Championships

On day three of the NCAA Division III Championships, the University of Chicago swimming and diving teams broke two more school records during Friday's action.

The Maroon women provided both new school records and captured All-America in each event. Sophomore Melissa Bischoff got rolling early in the day with a school-record time of 55.66 in the prelims of the 100-yard backstroke. During the evening finals, Bischoff placed eighth in 56.03.

The 800-yard freestyle relay provided the day's biggest highlight, courtesy of junior Alison Wall, junior Maya Scheidl, senior Karen Chu and freshman Hannah Eastman. The relay shattered the previous school-best by four seconds as the swimmers finished in 7:26.48 and placed fifth overall.
