Three Double Winners Spark Yellowjackets Over RIT

The University of Rochester women's swimming and diving team won 10 individual events, took first place in both relays, and tied for the lead on one of the diving boards. Add it all up and it results in a 199.5-96.5 victory over RIT on Saturday afternoon.
 
Rochester's charge to the win was sparked by three individual double winners. Jennifer Enos was first in the 1000 (11:04.12) and 500 (5:27.97) freestyles. Emily Simon won the 200 free (2:00.22) and the 100 free (:54.41). Annie Thayer was the first to touch the wall in the 200 fly (2:10.94) and the 100 fly (1:00.57).
 
The other event winners were Julia Herman in the 100 backstroke (1:03.13), Alex Veech in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.27), Becca Selznick in the 50 free (:25.56), and Anna Mucci in the 200 IM (2:19.64).
 
Madison Saliba, Veech, Mucci, and Vicky Luan got the meet off well, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:53.90. The Yellowjackets closed out the event with a win in the 400 free relay (3:46.70) with Stephanie Chen, Ellen Swanson, Selznick, and Tess Minigell.
 
On the diving boards, Danielle Neu tied for first on the three meter board (264.75) and was second on the one meter board (273.75).
 
There were contributions throughout the lineup. Minigell was second to Enos in the 1000 (11:09.69). Chen was second to Simon in the 200 free (2:02.79). Herman's victory in the 100 back was narrowly over teammate Shannon Cahalan (1:03.47).
 
Mucci finished second in the 200 fly (2:22.77). Selznick was second to Simon in the 100 free (:55.13). Saliba (2:16.02) and Jillian Johannes (2:20.06) ran 2-3 in the 200 back. Kelsey Lisbon (2:39.72) and Alyssa Gardiner (2:40.61) were 2-3 in the 200 breaststroke. Hongjue Wang was second in the 100 fly (1:01.15) to Thayer and Herman finished second to Mucci in the 200 IM, clocked in 2:20.53.
