Emory Routs Florida Southern, 173-86

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team had another impressive showing on Saturday afternoon, easily defeating Division II Florida Southern 173-86 to improve to 3-0 on the season. The meet was held outdoors in cold, rainy conditions on the campus of FSC in Lakeland, Florida.

The Eagles posted victories in all but two events at the meet and added four NCAA "B" Cut qualifying times.

Junior Cindy Cheng touched with two NCAA qualifying marks on Saturday to pace the Eagles. Cheng swam a time of 1:52.55 in the 200 Free and later, recorded a mark of 2:03.24 in the 200 Back, both event wins. Senior Annelise Kowalsky had a NCAA "B" Cut time in the 200 Breast, placing second in the event at 2:22.68. Cheng and Kowalsky added another NCAA qualifying mark in the 200 Medley Relay, taking first with seniors Macela Sanchez-Aizcorbe and Marissa Bergh with a time of 1:41.74.

Junior Ming Ong and sophomore Fiona Muir both added a pair of individual event wins for the Eagles. Ong claimed the top spot in the 1000 Free (10:29.86) and 500 Free (5:09.68) while Muir registered wins in the 100 Free (52.23) and 100 Fly (57.89).

Adding event victories for Emory were freshman Caroline Olson in the 100 Back (59.27), freshman Maria Kyle in the 200 Fly (2:09.49) and Bergh in the 50 Free (24.33). The Eagles closed out the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay thanks to Muir, Sanchez-Aizcorbe, Bergh and sophomore Meg Taylor. The foursome touched with a time of 1:37.34.
