Eagles Record Additional 23 NCAA "B" Cut Times on Day Two of Miami/SCAD Invites

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team registered 23 NCAA qualifying times on the second day of competition at the Miami and SCAD Invitationals and enter the third and final day of both meets in second place in the team standings.

At the Miami Invite, the Eagles have scored 430.5 points through two days but trail host Miami University (785 points) entering Saturday. At the SCAD Invitational, Emory has secured 390 points and are behind only Wingate University which has recorded 890 points over the first two days.

Emory opened Friday night recording a NCAA "B" Cut mark in the 200 Medley Relay with junior Cindy Cheng, seniors Annelise Kowalsky and Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe and sophomore Fiona Muir. The foursome placed third in the event with a time of 1:42.04.

In the 400 IM, three Eagles touched with NCAA "B" Cut times. Junior Ming Ong led the trio with a ninth place showing and swimming a 4:25.78 during preliminaries. Sophomore Amelia Hartje was 15th with a time of 4:32.72 and freshman Maria Turcan won the C final to place 16th, touching at 4:27.66.

In the 100 Fly, Sanchez-Aizcorbe and Muir collected their second NCAA qualifying times on the evening. Sanchez-Aizcorbe finished sixth and posted a time of 55.66 during prelims. Muir was seventh during the finals with a time of 55.98 but recorded a faster time in the morning at 55.56.

The Eagles saw an impressive five swimmers notch NCAA "B" Cut times in the 200 Free with Cheng leading the charge with a second place finish with a time of 1:48.13. Senior Marissa Bergh placed sixth at 1:52.31, junior Julia Wawer in ninth (1:51.37), sophomore Meg Taylor in 13th (1:52.16) and sophomore Ava Salmi in 21st (1:52.68).

Emory added two more NCAA "B" Cut times in the 100 Breast with sophomore Ashley Daniels posting a fifth place finish with a time of 1:03.30 and Kowalsky coming in eighth during the finals while a better prelim time of 1:03.80.

The Eagles tacked on three more NCAA "B" Cuts in the 100 Back with freshman Caroline Olson earning a top-10 finish, placing seventh at 56.07 (55.94 in prelims). Senior Claire Liu was 10th in the event at 56.14 and junior Sia Beasley finished 14th with a time of 56.83.

The 800 Free Relay team of Muir, Bergh, Taylor and Cheng closed out the evening in Oxford with a first place finish, touching with a NCAA "B" Cut of 7:22.08.

The Eagles saw five different swimmers turn in NCAA qualifying times on the evening in Savannah as Emory held onto its second place heading into day three on Saturday.

Sophomore Katelyn Mitchell recorded her second NCAA "B" Cut time of the meet, finishing third in 400 IM (4:26.87 in prelims). Junior Alison Mai and freshman Mia Morrellalso posted NCAA "B" Cuts in the 400 IM with Mai finishing fifth (4:35.03) and Morrell touching with a time of 4:32.93 in preliminaries. Sophomore Hannah Lally finished third in the 100 Breast (1:04.64) and senior Grace Swinnerton recorded a 57.19 in prelims in the 100 Back to round out the Emory performers on Friday.
