The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team enjoyed Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Division II programs West Florida and Delta State at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center inside the Woodruff PE Center.
The Eagles swam to 10 first place finishes and recorded 10 NCAA qualifying standards to defeat the Argonauts of UWF 202-96 and the Lady Statesmen of Delta State 170-128 on Saturday.
Prior to the start of the meet, the 2017 graduating senior class: Marissa Bergh, Annelise Kowalsky, Claire Liu, Kristine Rosenberger, Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe and Grace Swinnerton were recognized with a special ceremony. The full Senior Day ceremony can be viewed in its entirety below.
Kowalsky, junior Cindy Cheng and sophomore Fiona Muir all registered event victories and NCAA B Cuts in a pair of events to pace Emory at the meet. Kowalsky swept the Breaststroke events, posting times of 1:04.50 in the 100 and 2:20.75 in the 200. Cheng claimed both Backstroke races, touching at 55.45 in the 100 and at 2:02.25 in the 200. Muir was first in both the 100 and 200 Freestyles, clocking in at 51.87 and 1:52.46, respectively. The trio added a NCAA qualifying mark along with Bergh in the 200 Medley Relay as the quartet touched first at 1:44.91.
Adding NCAA B Cuts for the Eagles at the meet was sophomore Ashley Daniels in the 200 Breast, finishing second behind Kowalsky at 2:22.25 and junior Ming Ong and sophomore Julia Durmer in the 400 IM. Ong placed third at 4:34.98 while Durmer won the heat two of the finals with a time of 4:35.15.
Liu and Sanchez-Aizcorbe earned victories in individual events as well for the Eagles as Liu took the 50 Free with a time of 23.96 while Sanchez-Aizcorbe triumphed in the 100 Fly, touching at 58.02.
The Eagles closed out the meet with a first place showing in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Sanchez-Aizcrobe, Bergh along with freshman Caroline Olson and sophomore Meg Taylor registered a time of 1:36.46 to win the event.
