University of Chicago's Naomy Grand'Pierre swam in three events this week representing Haiti at the Fina World Swimming Championships (25m).
A sophomore on the UChicago women's swimming and diving team, Grand'Pierre traveled to Canada for the short course (25-meter) world championships. The six-day competition features 46 events and nearly 1,000 swimmers from 172 countries.
Grand'Pierre competed in three races on consecutive days. On Tuesday, she participated in the 50-meter breaststroke prelims and posted a time of 34.22, finishing 47th of 64 racers.
She went on to put up personal-best times in her next two events. In Wednesday's 100-meter freestyle prelim, Grand'Pierre recorded a time of 58.55 to place 78th out of 127. She concluded on Thursday with the 100-meter IM prelims, where the sophomore took 42nd of 61 with a mark of 1:06.11.
