Violets Sweep All 18 Events at Fall Invitational

From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's swimming team completed the second and final day of the NYU Fall Invitational, which was held on Friday and Saturday, November 4-5, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.

Freshman Julien Zhu won the 400-yard IM event with a time of 4:34.75. She also finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.18).

"Zhu swam very well through the meet," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "She put in a great performance and really stood out throughout the weekend."

The Violets dominated proceedings from start to finish, winning all 18 events across the two days. NYU accumulated 855 points, ahead of Ursinus College (444) in second and Stevens Institute of Technology (439) in third place.

"I think it was important for us to win a two-day meet," said Miele. "Swimming two days in a row against good competition gave us good preparation as we move forward with our schedule. I'm pretty happy with the results and now it's back to training on Monday."

Sophomore Noel Leung won all three of her races at the meet, including the 50-yard freestyle (24.22), 100-yard freestyle (53.29) and 200-yard freestyle (1:56.66).

Highlights:

- Freshman Kathy Lin finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.27) and 100-yard butterfly (57.41).

- NYU swept all the relay events, including the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:35.95), 800-yard freestyle relay (7:59.16) and 400-yard medley relay (3:56.08).
