The New York University women's swimming & diving team has wrapped up day one of the NYU Invitational, which is being held at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan on Friday and Saturday, February 3-4.

There is no team scoring at this meet.

The Violets are competing against eight other teams, including Division-I programs Lehigh University and Drexel University. The other schools competing are the University of Bridgeport, Fashion Institute of Technology, Long Island University - Post, Queens College, Stevens Institute of Technology, and SUNY Delhi.

Carmen White set a new Violet and Palladium record (533.35) in her victory in the women's three-meter competition, breaking Kelly Dietz's record of 472.55, set during the 2010-11 season. Fellow NYU diver Nia Sorgente took second in the event (467.65).

"This was the best performance from top to bottom from every single diver on the team," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "We are primed and ready going into the UAA Championships."

Erin Russionello (2:23.86), Rachel Munger (2:25.11), Tessa Lechleider (2:29.20), and Channing Hans (2:33.36) captured four of the top-five places in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Melissa Segovia of Lehigh placing third in a time of 2:26.60.

"We got off to a great start with some very fast swims," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We are set up well for tomorrow."
