NYU Defeats TCNJ on the Road

The New York University women's swimming & diving team defeated host The College of New Jersey 223-71 on Saturday, November 19, at Packer Hall in Ewing, NJ.

NYU improved to 3-0 in dual meets this season, while the Lions dropped to 2-2.

Noel Leung continued her successful sophomore season for NYU, winning the 100-yard butterfly (59.94) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.68). She also teamed up with Olivia Kirkpatrick, Shelby Jordan and Amber Hunter to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:40.56.

"Our team swam real well today," said NYU Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We dominated from start to finish, and I look forward to seeing how we come back tomorrow against Bucknell."

NYU also had a great afternoon in the diving portion of the meet. Carmen White swept the one-meter and three-meter events with scores of 322.13 and 298.43, respectively. 

"It was a historic day for NYU diving," said NYU Head Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Nia (Sorgente), Ashlie (Pankonin) and Carmen all made zone qualifying scores, while Claire (Liu) had personal bests on both boards."

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- In addition to her win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, Kirkpatrick also earned a victory in the 100-yard freestyle (54.43) and helped lead the 200-yard medley relay team to first place (1:50.76).

- May Li recorded a win in the 200-yard butterfly, completing the race in 2:15.15.

- Julien Zhu bested her competition by more than 20 seconds in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The freshman finished the race in 10:36.78.
