The New York University women's swimming & diving team defeated West Chester University by a score of 181.5-118.5 on Saturday, October 15, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.
Three of the Violets' swimmers finished as double-winners, while senior Elise Gibbs recorded three second-place finishes: 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.57), 50-yard freestyle (24.76) and 200-yard backstroke (2:26.84).
On the diving boards, freshman Carmen White took first place in the one-meter competition (292.28) and second place in the three-meter (256.36).
"The team really came through," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "They really stepped it up to swim that fast so early in the season. We're looking forward to a few more hard weeks of training to get ready for the NYU Invite coming up."
Highlights:
- Sophomore Noel Leung took first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.25) and 100-yard freestyle (53.18).
- Freshman Kathy Lin finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.78) and 100-yard butterfly (58.62).
- Freshman Julien Zhu took first place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.96) and also finished first in the 200-yard IM (2:10.13).
