Washington University Finishes Strong in Show-Me Showdown Meet

Washington University in St. Louis swimming and diving competed with several colleges ranging from Division I-III within the state of Missouri at the Show-Me Showdown hosted by the University of Missouri Friday evening.

The Bears finished third of nine teams and placed within the top five of six events to score 344.5 points.

The 400 freestyle relay team placed third overall just seconds behind Division I host's Mizzou's top two groups. Niamh O'Grady, Maria de Figueiredo, Nicole Zanolli and MariMac Collins combined efforts for a time of 3:35.15 nearly two seconds ahead of Saint Louis University. 

Senior Emily Ramos also placed third overall for the Bears during the one-meter dive with a 214.70 score. 

The most points scored by a WashU woman in a single event other than diving was O'Grady in the 100 butterfly when she placed fourth overall with a time of 57.30. De Figueiredo scored 28 points between two individual events as she placed fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.55) and ninth in the 100 backstroke (59.28).

400 freestyle relay: Niamh O'Grady, Maria de Figueiredo, Nicole Zanolli, MariMac Collins (3rd, 3:35.15)

1-meter dive: Emily Ramos (3rd, 214.70)

100 butterfly: Niamh O'Grady (4th, 57.30)

500 freestyle: Nicole Zanolli (5th, 5:09.81)

50 freestyle: Maria de Figueiredo (5th, 24.55)

200 freestyle relay: MariMac Collins, Claire Savage, Alex Center, Maria de Figueiredo (5th, 1:39.37)
