From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet at the Veale Natatorium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday afternoon, with the men and women both falling to the SUNY-Geneseo Knights.
The Spartan men and women each stand at 6-2 in dual meets this season, following Saturday's meet.
Senior Inez Moore and junior Suhan Mestha headlined the women's performances, as Moore won the 100-yard freestyle with a time 54.81 and Mestha won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.45.
In addition, Moore and Mestha also teamed with freshman Caitlyn VonFeldt and junior Alli Drohosky to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.51. The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Moore, Mestha, VonFeldt and freshman Vanya Ruppart added a first-place finish with a time of 3:36.45.
Other first-place finishes for the Spartan women included sophomore Olivia Picchione in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.45) and sophomore Monica Khare in the 100-yard butterfly (59.62).
For the men, freshman Will McDonald won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.33. He also added a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.78. Senior John Kilbane claimed a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.83. In addition, senior Aaron Pang claimed first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.94) and junior Brody Schmidt finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.39)
The men's 200-yard medley relay team of McDonald, Kilbane, senior Oliver Hudgins and senior Drew Hamilton earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:36.32.
