The Case Western Reserve University women's swimming and diving team picked up a win in its season-opening competition on Saturday, earning a 215-76 victory against the Blue Streaks.
Four Spartan women claimed wins in multiple events on Saturday. Sophomore Olivia Picchione won the 200-yard butterfly with a career-best time of 2:12.16 and the 200-yard individual medley with a mark of 2:13.91. Junior Suhan Mestha finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.14) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.99). Freshman Sophia Vaccaro added first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:00.81) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.90), while freshman Vanya Ruppart won the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.23) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.33).
Also notching top finishes in the events for the Spartan women were sophomore Monica Khare in the 100-yard butterfly (59.93), freshman Caroline Dudenhoeffer in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.85), and junior Sydney Anderson swept the diving events with a score of 168.83 in the one-meter dive, and 165.08 in the three-meter dive. CWRU also had a first-place finish from its women's 400-yard medley relay team of Mestha, Olivia Picchione, junior Alli Drohosky and senior Jennifer Eurich (4:03.98), as well as their 400-yard freestyle relay team of Mestha, Ruppart, Eurich and junior Kelsey Holmberg (3:43.31).
