Case Western Reserve University junior Suhan Mestha finished 14th in the finals of the 200-yard backstroke to claim an All-America Honorable Mention as the Spartans wrapped-up competition at the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday.
During the morning preliminaries, Mestha swam a time of 2:03.06 to place 15th. The junior returned in the finals to swim a time of 2:02.10, finishing 14th overall to claim the All-America Honorable Mention certificate. Mestha has now collected two All-American certificates during this year's championships.
Also in action on Saturday, the women's 400-freestyle relay team of Mestha, senior Inez Moore, freshman Caitlyn VonFeldt and freshman Vanya Ruppart placed 24th in the preliminaries with a time of 3:30.78. In addition, VonFeldt finished 30th in the morning preliminaries of the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.99.
The Case Western Reserve women totaled nine points during the four-day meet to finish in 34th-place out of 48 teams that scored at the NCAA Championships. The Emory women won the meet with 603 points, followed by Kenyon (500 points) and Williams (412 points).
The meet concludes the 2017-18 season for the Spartans.
